Social Work/Sociology
Empowering the powerless. Respecting human dignity. Improving the lives of all that they touch. These are all objectives of those that work and study in the field of social work/sociology. Mercyhurst College offers two bachelor of arts degree programs in social work and sociology that can open doors to many career opportunities. Through the study of contemporary social problems, criminology, diversity of society, and gerontology, students are prepared to be advocates for social justice and to work with people of all ages, races and social backgrounds. That, combined with a liberal arts core, ensures that our students leave with the knowledge and skills necessary to help others - and themselves -- achieve meaningful, productive lives.
